Pattaya Info

Once a small fishing village, Pattaya as a holiday destination grew in popularity in the 1960s, first as a place where American GIs would visit for some rest and recreation, and then as a tourist hot spot. People were drawn to its sandy beaches, tropical weather, friendly atmosphere and party atmosphere. Although this fun-filled reputation has been maintained- with a night life which is second to none- Pattaya also caters extremely well for families, and is a favourite of those drawn by its abundance of things to see and do.

No matter what sort of holiday you are looking for, Pattaya will offer you what you want. There are some beautiful sights, such as the relaxing Nong Nooch Botanical Gardens, which hosts cultural Thai shows that include folk dancing, sword fighting and Thai Boxing. The Sanctuary of Truth is a stunning temple, an architectural feast for the eyes as it incorporates and reflects ancient wisdom and philosophy. The Million Years Stone Park is an extensive park with some exciting features, such as fossilised plants, rare animals and a crocodile farm.

A Water Park at Jomtien Beach is an exciting day out for the children (and adults), with a giant water slide, Jacuzzis, and a seaside tower with revolving restaurant.

For the sports mad there are plenty of activities to indulge in. Perhaps you want to enjoy a round of golf, or go a circuit with a racing car, or else go horseriding, go-carting, paintballing, or scuba diving. There is even a flying club. And of course, after an action packed day, don’t stop to unwind too much as you head into the town and experience the raucous energy of its discos and bars. And perhaps the morning-after you can spend some time on one of the beaches, soaking up the sun whilst enjoying a traditional Thai massage. It’s a hard life!
